I travel all over town teaching yoga and this mat and strap combination works great for me. It's convenient to sling over your shoulder (very useful when you also have to carry a CD player and a bag of straps and eye pillows!) plus the strap is comfortable so it doesn't chafe my shoulder if I'm wearing a tank top.
And of course you can't go wrong with the basic Wai Lana sticky mat that accompanies it!
You can adjust the strap to fit mats of other thicknesses as well.
