I love the natural hemp look and the fact that it has adjustable velcro straps. It fits my Jade Harmony 3/8" mat easily and I think it could probably fit a larger one if necessary. Be aware that the hemp strap is a little scratchy and might irritate sensitive skin. I think it could also double as a strap to use for certain stretches although I haven't tried that yet....

I had never done Pilates before and was unsure of the type of mat to get. I read several reviews and decided on this one. Good choice. It is thick and very long. Upon first receiving, it does have a "rubber" smell but it goes away after washing and with use. The company sends info on how to best wash it prior to use. I didn't find the smell offensive as other reviewers commented, and I am pregnant so smells are heightened for me. I use my mat every day and am very pleased....

I bought this because I began doing beginner yoga/ ab workouts. It works great on the hard floor and it pads my knees and back very well during various exercises. The reason for the 4 stars is that I do slip when doing downward dog and while I do sit ups. I don't have a lot of experience with yoga mats, so I don't know if that is a typical problem with yoga mats. Overall, I am pretty satisfied for the price.

Also I am not incredibly tall, 6'1", and this yoga mat fits the entire length of my body....

I bought this mat to play the Wii game The Biggest Loser in my living room. I own an exercise mat, but use it in my bedroom over an interlocking gym floor mat, which is held in place by a heavy exercise bike to keep it stable. This is a pilates mat, and isn't really thick enough to run on in your socks. It's VERY stable, and doesn't budge an inch. I do however lay my exercise mat on top of this mat to form a cross. This does the job for me. This listing was also the lowest price when I bought this particular mat. Can't go wrong if you're thinking of getting a good pilates mat, or a mat to provide good traction on a tile floor....

This strap is awesome. It is so soft and flexible when you get it that there is no 'breaking-in' period. The buckle also holds the strap where you place it. Well worth the money....

I've used a lot of yoga mats in my yoga career.

This eco friendly mat held up with my vigorous practices, sweat and all.

Just as good as my Jade yoga mat with a much better price....

i was looking for a new mat, and this time i hoped to find something a little more sustainable than the standard cheap-o yoga mat. i looked at a lot of different mats and finally decided on this one. i really want to like it. it has a different kind of smell than the standard mats, and it doesn't bother me at all. (the smell is also fading after about a month). it turns out, natural rubber has a few drawbacks:

1. it's really dense. because of this, the mat seems excessively heavy, which i don't mind, but also less cushiony, which i do mind. my bony body hurts in some poses when using this mat, despite the added thickness.

2. it doesn't have very good traction. this mat has a textured surface on one side, but it still doesn't have the grip of the cheap-o mats. i'm skinny, and i don't sweat a lot while doing yoga, and yet, i have a really hard time keeping my hands in place in down dog. it's really frustrating. i try to dry my hands, but they don't seem sweaty. apparently, it doesn't take much.

i really really really want to love this mat. i'm not giving up on it, but it's not easy. i've decided that perhaps sliding around during asana is adding a new dimension to my practice. it's definitely helping me learn to focus. if you're very much of a sweater, i think you'll want to look elsewhere. natural rubber is just not going to do it for you. you'll probably want to buy a NON-sustainable product, or else you'll be sliding all over the place. sad, but true.

UPDATE 03/24/11: i've been using this mat for about a year now. it still hurts my bony little body, but i'm too stubborn to toss it in a landfill. for one of the classes i teach, i cut up another 1/4" standard rubber mat (also from yoga accessories: YogaAccessories 1/4" Extra Thick Deluxe Yoga Mat) into 9" sections so that my students could use it for additional knee padding. i've found that adding one of these beneath my knees helps immensely. but what i really want is just to replace this mat with the standard thick, cushy mat i cut up....
