Ideal for use in shoulder stands, restorative yoga, and as cushioning against hard floors, the Hugger Mugger Mexican yoga blanket is soft to the touch but still firm enough to provide all the support you need for floor exercises. The blanket is made of a soft woven fabric, with colorful striped patterns in a classic Mexican style. More importantly, the blanket works in a variety of situations: in addition to supporting all types of yoga and shoulder stands, the blanket also fits under your hips in seated poses or works in place of a bolster. You can even drape the blanket over your body for warmth during your final relaxation pose. The blanket measures 80 by 53 inches.

I'm experienced with yoga props, and have bought blankets from a variety of sources. I bought these blankets for gifts and was very impressed with the high cotton content, quality and look of the blankets - I wanted to keep them!

Re cotton content- you can't go by the label. Many Mexican blanket producers low-ball the cotton percentage because its easier to clear customs - I wouldn't have known/believed this - but after several purchases, and several calls to vendors - I believe it now. Some of my nicest blankets have low/no cotton labels - but they're cotton.

Anyway - these were super....

FYI, this blanket is 100% acrylic, not wool. The fabric content was not provided anywhere. This blanket works great in yoga class. As advertised, it provides the right support for poses....

After reading the reviews of this product and seeing the price, I wanted to try this blanket for myself. When I got it home, it was not what I expected. The weave was a bit loose (there were several large snags in it) and it was thinner than I had hoped. I would need to use another blanket folded up to provide support. Based on the picture, I was expecting something a bit more subdued with the colors. The one that I got was bright red and yellow - not exactly calming.

Overall, not a bad blanket and it will serve its purpose. If you need extra support, I suggest buying two. Just a warning to those who buy thinking it will look similar to the picture...it won't....

Don't expect it to do your taxes or make you a sandwich, but as a yoga mat, this fits the bill nicely. I use this frequently for P90X and it hasn't let me down. It's thick enough to provide some cushioning for higher impact activities and it did a fine job staying in place on a hardwood floor. It rolls up for easy storage and quickly returns to laying flat after unrolling....

Great price and fast shipping. The hot/cold gel pack is wonderful. However, the position of the gel pack was below the area where my pain was. Like a torn rotator cuff the pain was at the point of the shoulder and the gel pack pouch position was below the shoulder on the side. Too bad it didn't have two pouches to position the pack where the pain was....

If you have a sedentary job, you may notice that your posture collapses around the computer. There is just something about sitting in front of a screen that makes me hunch over. The balance disc cushion is a great way to combat that tendency. Here are what I view as the main relevant points:

1) It makes you aware of you posture, knowledge of which is often the main thing I need in order to correct it.

2) The unstable surface does require various trunk/core muscle to be used in order to stabilize you in your seat.

3) By the end of the day, you can feel a difference, although it is slight. I can best describe it as my body saying "do we have to sit on THAT thing again?" I interpret this mild fatigue as an indirect indication that I have done some work.

That's about it. Like I said, it's not going to change your body. It does seem to turn counterproductive desk time into, if not active exercise, at least a vigorous enough activity that fitness is maintained.

Oh, and it does look a bit silly sitting on your chair - kind of like a whoopee cushion. You were warned.

This is an excellent tool for core training! My trainer uses this on me every other workout and while it took a bit to figure out the balancing part, it really works!

While it may seem like you aren't getting much out of it because it's more like trying to stay on a disc that's on water, it's working even though you don't know it. I lost more weight using this and the wobble board than by aerobics alone in a shorter period of time. It makes you sweat like a dog too. It is frustrating, you'll have to get over that, but keep yourself on it and think of it as a game. It's a great tool in the buldge battle! I highly recommend this tool as a main stay in your workout regime....

If you spend a lot of time at a desk, this is a handy item for strenghtening your abs unconsciously while you work. Subtle shifts take place while you sit that you're not aware of, keeping your abdominals working. You can sit on the pointy side (not sure what that's supposed to do...acupressure?) or the flat side. Definitely don't sit on the pointy side if you're naked or in shorts, it leaves polka dots....
