Jute is a natural fiber plant grown primarily in India, Bangladesh and China that takes only four to six months to mature, making it a desirable substitute for wood, paper, and synthetic materials. A highly versatile fiber, jute combines breathability with high tensile strength, making the Sattva mat the perfect balance of durability and comfort. This mat also features a non-slip backing of PER, a material that contains no formaldehyde or heavy metals and is static free and resistant to mildew. In Sanskrit SATTVA means "pure."

This is a wonderful mat. No funky rubbery smell because its a mixture of natural fibers and PER, which also makes it super easy to keep my grip; now my hands rarely slip no matter how much I sweat (unlike with my previous mat, a junky Gaiam one). I only give it 4 stars instead of 5 because bits of the material are starting to come off with wear, but I've had it for about a year ago and use it pretty frequently (3-4 times a week) so I guess that's to be expected!...

Good size, much less odor than rubber mats, and great grip. However, the natural fibers of the mat can be very itchy and uncomfortable until you wear it in a little....

I love this mat. It has no smell, and it is very soft. It is great on carpet but I do have to put another mat underneath it on wood floors because it is thin....
