I previously had a Gaia Yoga mat. Those mats have nothing on the Manduka eKO. I didn't even know what I was missing out on. This mat is very stick even while very sweaty during Ashtanga practice. I don't even bother using the towel. I got the package more to use the towel by itself; by itself the towel moves a little, but it is very absorbent. On the mat the towel stays in place. So if you feel you sweat too much, then the towel will make a difference. The only real issue I have with this mat is that it has a strong rubber smell. This doesn't bother me too much, but I could see it bothering some people. I am normally very sensitive to smells. I would say it is a problem only when laying face down toward the mat....
