My wife and I avidly practice Bikram yoga, sometimes as often as 6 classes a week. We started our practice using bath towels and quickly moved to yoga towels for the added slip-free design, sweat-wicking and fast drying composition of the Gaiam towels.

Briefly, my PROS and CONS;

PROS

- Once slightly damp provide a very slip-free surface

- bunches only slightly, I usually have no issues in Bikram but my towel moves a bit during active Vinyasa sessions.

- Wash them and hang to dry, they are often completely dry in a few hours

- Hold up fairly well after washing (which you need to do after every class)

CONS

- We now have purchased 6 of these towels since we started in January 2011. We needed at least 4 (2 towels each) to rotate every other day or for when we do double classes on weekends.

- After 3 months the towels pick up a mildew smell that is impossible to remove. I have washed with baking soda, vinegar, hung out in the sun, tossed the older ones in a dryer, but the smell is horrible.

-After 3 months of regular use and maybe 30-40 washings, I've had to throw out 2 of the towels.

I am going to try the Yogitoes towel that is a little more expensive, to see if the towels hold up a little longer. I will update this review once I have tried the other brand....

I own two of these yoga towels, and I have found them to be durable, highly absorbent, and an overall great value. I can't believe people actually spend 2-3 times as much on other brands! I practice yoga 5-6 times per week, so I need a towel that will stand up to lots of use and washing.This is a perfectly good towel that fulfils my needs: a non-slip, absorbent surface that completely covers my yoga mat. I have used this towel for both Bikram-style hot yoga classes as well as Vinyasa flow classes, and it works well for both. It's lightweight and dries really quickly too. This towel doesn't shrink or fade either, even after dozens of washings, unlike the shrunken Yogitoes towels I see others using in my yoga classes. I would have given it 5 stars instead of 4, but it sometimes doesn't stay put perfectly - I've found that I may have to straighten it once during an especially active flowing class. Overall, I'm satisfied with this yoga towel, and I see no need to waste money on the pricier brands....

I am brand new to yoga and enrolled in a hot yoga class. I learned that I should pick a mat that is not slippery or sleak - so I picked an Atlus mat which has small grips (so the towel does not slip). I can easily spin around on the towel and it does not bunch up. The only challenge is in the warrior pose; the wider the feet, you have to really dig your heels in so that you don't slip - but any towel without grips would have the same issue. The towel dries quickly and washes up nicely....

DO NOT BUY THIS YOGA MAT!!!! This mat is not thick at all and is the slipperiest thing I have ever tried to do yoga on. I spent $32 on this including shipping costs and am beyond disappointed. I tried doing yoga on it and every time I was in downward dog my hands slipped forward 8 inches. I finally got so annoyed that i threw it against the wall and finished my session on the floor. Please don't waste your money on this mat. Spend the extra money and buy a good one....

I love this mat. I practice yoga at least 4 times a week and have had trouble with cheaper yoga mats -- all those vinyasas started chipping off the foam, so I'd have little purple mat bits littering my space. I've only had this mat for about a week, but it feels thick and sturdy. I got it in turquoise, and the color is vibrant and unique. I have a feeling it will withstand the test of time--and many, many downward dogs!...

This mat appears to be of good quality, but I was disappointed in its thickness. It's advertised as an extra thick mat, but it does not appear to be any thicker than the average yoga mat. If you are looking for average thickness, then you would be satisfied with this product....

This is a good bag as it's well ventilated and large enough for my 71-inch BlackMatPro. I like that it's made of canvas and easily washable (it smelled when I got it new).

One big flaw for the high price: The metal links of the strap dig into the shoulder and HURT! It has a strap pad but if you're carrying the bag vertically up and down your back, the position is so that the metal clasp is right on the meat of your shoulder. It's tolerable for walking from the car to the studio, but if your trekking from home, you may need to cover it with foam or something.

This is one of the most expensive bags available, so for ~$50 I'd say it's okay; I haven't found one any better....

and worth it but if you're most concerned about price there are much less expensive, functional bags out there, albeit not as good looking. The bag lacks a secure place to store small items such as ID, cell phone, keys, etc...but has a generous sized side compartment which comfortably fits a towel, strap and bottle of water....

I was sorry to read the other review saying this bag is flimsy. I don't doubt the customer's experience, but want to note that I've washed this bag many times over the 3-4 years that I've owned it and had no problems at all. It still looks as good as when I bought it. I love the neutral color (more khaki than olive) and the roominess. I can roll up my yoga mat with a towel and it still slides in easily. The pocket is great for keys and even a hand towel. The pocket does not zip, which would be nice, but that would be my only complaint....

Fraying alot. Very flimsy. But fits my mat and towel and has an ok look.

... after using this bag more, (i wear it when riding my bike 20minutes to class), i realize its extremely uncomfortable. the strap isnt strong, the material is thin so it curls up into a string that digs into my shoulder. the buckle doesnt fit tight so forget about adjusting the strap length, it just slides down within minutes. not a good purchase....

Photo and description of this bag lead me to believe it was similiar to another, heavy cotton mat bag my wife has and loves. However, this bag is made of very, very thin material. To me, it doesn't even feel like cotton...it feels synthetic. In addition, it was too small to fit my Manduka eco 5mm mat. It MIGHT have fit if I'd rolled the mat ultra tight and spent 10 minutes squeezing it in, but I don't really want to store my mat so tightly that it curls every time I take it out(and that's IF if fits). Overall disappointed with my purchase so I returned the bag. This bag might work for someone with a smaller mat looking for a good price. 2 stars only for price....

This is a good set of basic tools including a sturdy strap ending in D-rings and a metal tab, a high-density foam block the size of a big brick, a sticky yoga mat and a video (not DVD) of basic asanas for relaxation. There is an included poster showing how to use the blocks in the triangle pose and other asanas and listing what each pose is supposed to achieve (relaxation, stretching, breathing, strengthening.)

Wai Lana includes poses from yoga (asanas) and other techniques to achieve relaxation via gentle movement, though the beginner might find some of the poses challenging at first. But no one says you have to stretch the entire way.

The poses include:

Three-step leg lift on your back

Rock & roll on base of spine

Sitting eagle

Arm circles, Shoulder rolls, Shoulder lifts

Reaching backbend (careful if you have back issues)

Windmill

Tree pose

Easy Camel (requires twisting)

Alternate leg stretch

Biking pose (the old fashioned bicycle exercise)

The music is new-age style and relaxing. Wai Lana is set in a changing background (ocean, shore, rocks, stream) and her outfits (she designs them like a combination of a Chinese acrobat's costume mixed with a jogging suit) change with the scenery. She wears Chinese opera-makeup so don't be alarmed; her lips are strawberry pink and she has a slash of bright pink blush under each cheekbone. It's fun to watch her leis shred up as she rolls into a ball on her back (petals all over.)

This is not a difficult workout but it is challenging if you are facing any back pain. So go easy. This would be good for anyone recovering from a sore back (with doctor's permission--for example the rolling on the back might not be good for severe osteoporosis of the spine.) You need to use the mat and I put down two for extra cushioning. A nice wakeup-body workout....

I've had this for three years and it's still as cushy as ever. It lives up to it's Super Thick name. I've used it for yoga, meditation, prayer, kettlebells, sitting on it rather than the floor to cut dog toenails, etc. It's super comfortable and relaxing. It has a zip off washable cover, so you can drag it around the country and stuff it into the back of cars and it survives just fine. It rolls up nicely for storage, otherwise it takes up a lot of room and dogs will try to claim it as a bagel. It's not a sticky mat, and does not have a nonstick side. So, you have to stay surefooted and move with self awareness, especially if you have the klutz gene. It may be too thick and soft for some people to feel that they can correctly achieve proper form.
