Danskin Now Yoga Fitness Kit

This review is from: Danskin Now Yoga Fitness Kit

The video for the yoga is very dull and disappointing. I have done yoga in the past, yet this video was difficult to follow and the instructor did not explain the moves or make it possible to see various angles to ensure your body was in the correct position. The mat began shedding the first time I used it....

Good quality sticky mat, resistance band, strap, DVD, chart and ball. Chart shows basic poses and DVD demonstrates poses. While no DVD is a substitute for an instructor it is a useful tool to support workouts outside of class using the principles best learned with an instructor. Highly recommend; much more economical than buying components separately :)...

This kit contains a yoga mat, two straps (one latex, one cotton), an exercise ball (with a blow tube that doesn't fit the opening in the ball, so you'll need to figure out how to pump it up some other way), a DVD with five workouts, and a chart that shows some of the poses used in those workouts (it would have been nice if they had included a yoga block as well).

The DVD contains no information about yoga and does not explain any of the poses, which are demonstrated by an instructor with an off-screen voice-over commentary. I took a beginners' yoga class a couple of years ago and had no problem following the workouts. I imagine that that would be difficult for someone who is totally new to exercising and/or yoga - but then again, the kit is not called "Yoga Kit for Beginners".

Overall I like this item well enough. The only thing I really have to criticize is the lack of a warm-up sequence, but to me that is such an important thing that I can only give the kit three stars....
