I just started attending yoga instruction 6 weeks ago. Let's just say...I was a very "ignorant" beginner. For my first practice I picked up a cheap mat at Marshall's (discount home store in Texas). Turns out, it was too thick and you really need a thin one to find your balance and...I was one of the goofy's carrying in my thick, over-sized beach towel to hot yoga. What's wrong with that??? Well, though the staff at the studio is very friendly; they don't just volunteer information. Their website simply recommended a mat and a towel and that's what i brought. So I had to learn from experience, observation and from reviews here. I also wanted to be sure that I was going to like yoga and stick with it before I invested more into it. I now know that I LOVE yoga and I thank God for the day I got inspired to start. After a few classes I knew I had to get more gear, the first being a 'better' towel. I am soooooooo glad I got my skidless yogi towel; I got to use it this weekend and I had a fool-proof class for the very first time!! It will bring your practice to a WHOLE new level, especially if like me, you are just starting out. Makes a world of difference to feel grip under your hands and feet...no more bunching up. I honestly didn't know what I was missing but it is AMAZING!! No-one said, exactly, not to expect a terry towel. So I'm telling you DO NOT EXPECT A TERRY TOWEL! Silly! Why would anyone spend this kind of $$ on a regular bath towel?? This is the YOGA TOWEL you never dreamed of, only because you didn't know any better! The creators of this product knew what they were doing; it is essential and worth every penny!
I don't know what to call the fabric but it is a rich material that is super absorbent, it's easy to carry and it has personality! Before the first use I soaked mine in the bath sink with a little of my lingerie detergent to rinse out the dyes that everyone says are such a nuisance. When i pulled it out of the water that thing weighed a ton! You can hardly believe how much water it holds! I wrung it until my poor little hands couldn't render more and then i hung it in the shower to dry. The next morning I had class and the towel was still a teeny bit damp and maybe that helped it be more tacky too. I am washing it by hand after each use, at least a few more times until the water runs clear. Line-dry guarantees no-mess in the dryer and might even preserve the stickiness of the skidless tabs in the long run. Since I'm not experienced, I don't have anything to compare it to, but I know you will not regret your purchase. You deserve it and you will love it!...
