I loved the design of this bag - which is similar (if not almost exactly like) a tonier Hayden Harnett backpack I once spotted and lusted after at a high-end specialty retailer. The spring-like print is gorgeous and playful. However, the zipper on the top part of the bag was "sticky" and hard to open and close. The fabric was rougher than I had expected and seemed like it would not hold up after a wash. I ended up returning the bag to Amazon since it did not seem like it would last too long - the zipper seemed on its way out the minute I received it. I would also expect Gaiam to have a bit more moral compass in the design department, since this bag seems to have duplicated a higher end design....

I have never written a review for anything on Amazon, but this beconed me. Worst part is that I read the reviews and bought it anyway cuz I got it for less than $10 shipped (from somewhere else) so figured it wasn't a big gamble and I absolutely LOVED the way it looked in the picts online, so I had to see for myself. I bought this pack intending to use it for a purse/diaper bag. I doubt I'll use it at all, for embarassment sake. First off, the colors are horribly bright, not at all earthy-looking like I see in the picture. It is an electric green and pale lime green print, more obnoxious/tropical than "granola"... and the leather accents and pulls are a deep forest green (which is earthy, so looks totally out of place w/ the bright electric print. The upside of the ridiculous color scheme: you'd never have any trouble spotting your bag at the next gathering you attend. So, besides the overall look being anything but earthy/ attractive, the zippers are a rough metal, snagging my fingernails everytime I go to use them... and that's after I spent about an hr w/ a candle trying to wax them so they'd run smoother (which they still don't do after waxing). If that weren't enough, the top zippered compartment you see is not a separate compartment at all; it's how you get to the whole interior of the bag!!! I thought it was a flap/compartment, and you'd lift it and there'd be another zipper or opening under that flap, but you actually have to unzip the top compartment (really a flap), straighten it upward, and put your whole arm in (past those super-rough and scratchy zippers) to be able to get to or see what's in your bag. HOW DUMB is THAT design??? Let's just make our purses a bottomless hole. AND the zipper pulls keep coming apart/ untieing so I have to keep reattaching them (and I didn't even leave the house w/ it yet). Save your money- keep looking!!...

Yes, this bag is a copy of Hayden-Harnett's design which is no longer being produced. I bought this bag thinking it was going to be like the sample picture-earthy, cute. Hayden-Harnett never produced the backpack in a color/design I liked. I felt guilty buying this because it is an exact duplicate, down to the fron card holder and keyhook. When the bag came, ACK!!! I was shocked. Bright and tacky. Where was the grassy green? I was looking at a lime green mishap. Don't be scared Hayden Harnett, this bag doesn't compare to what you've produced. Sticky cheap zippers, floppy design, cheap fabric. Thankfully I didn't pay full price and now use this to take stuff to the dog park....
