Cotton yoga rugs have been used for centuries for Hatha Yoga and are considered to be the first mats ever used for Yoga practice in Mysore, India. This 100% cotton rug (competitor rugs are mostly acrylic/polyester blends) will absorb your perspiration and help you maintain your poses without slipping. These rugs are popular for Ashtanga, Hatha Flow, Power Yoga, and Bikram hot yoga. These yoga mat rugs are excellent for hot yoga as the tightly-woven thick weave cotton fibers readily absorb perspiration. We recommend lightly misting the entire rug surface before laying on a wood floor to reduce slipping, or the rug can be used on top of your favorite yoga mat for extra padding and to keep the rug firmly in place. Each rug is 72'' long by 24'' wide, the size of a standard yoga mat. We recommend you wash your rug in cold water and hang it to dry. Please do NOT put it in the dryer, as the heat of the dryer will cause the rug to shrink. Your rug may tighten up after air drying but won't shrink. It will loosen again with repeated use.

I purchased this rug to throw over my mat when practicing yoga. My hands and feet tend to slip after a while and I wanted something that would help hold me in place and not bunch up like a towel. I really like the versatility that this yoga prop provides. It gives some extra cushion on top of a mat without being squishy and causing loss of balance. It does not slip around when practicing. I have also folded it up and used it for support during restorative poses. All in all, high quality at a good price....

I purchased this rug to go on top of the mats we use in yoga class so I wouldn't have lay on a community mat. This rug is the perfect size and thickness for that. I wouldn't use it without a mat if you are on a hard surface because it's not made to be soft or plush. It is comfortable to sit, stand, or lay on (with padding underneath), and the simple pattern is aesthetically pleasing and not at all distracting. I have no problems with slipping if I am barefoot or wearing the Five Fingers toe shoes. The only slipping that occurs is when I wear only socks, so that is to be expected. I've even begun taking this to my strength classes so I don't have to do push ups, sit ups, or other floor-bound exercises on a hard surface. I will be purchasing another mat for these classes so I don't have to get my nice one all sweaty.All-around well designed mat for multiple uses, but especially yoga!...

This is a well-made product and is as advertised. The only downside to the purchase is that their shipping is slug slow so don't expect it to arrive any time soon after you order it. That said, I'm glad I purchased from them; just think they need to be a little more on the ball when it comes to shipping....
