I bought this mat because I was tired of replacing my mat every few years and this one comes with a lifetime guarantee; I'm disappointed to say that I don't love it. Another reviewer said that they found this mat excellent for Ashtanga practice, and I can see why this is the case- it's very solid and rarely bunches or moves during flow practices. However, I do mostly Hatha and Yin, and find it to be a lot harder (i.e. less cushioned) than other mats, which is particularly noticeable with a Yin practice. In addition, it really is quite heavy, which is nuisance if you're carrying it any distance. I'd recommend thinking carefully about your own type of practice, and if possible, checking it out in person, before investing in this mat. Namaste!...

I have a very strong, daily ashtanga practice and I typically go through a mat per year. I believe that the Manduka Blackmat PRO could last me for a very long time! Plus, it has a lifetime warranty.
Right out of the box I loved it. It has a nice cushion to it, but it's firm and has a stickiness that I like. For the first time, I was able to get into Bhujapidasana without the mat bunching up under me! More width and length wasn't necessarily a must for me, but yogis who like a larger mat should love this one. It IS heavy, so it might be an issue if you are looking for a travel mat. Personally, I will probably take one of my smaller mats on trips...but maybe not...it's not like it's that much heavier.
I'd read some reviews, prior to buying, that said the smell was a bit off-putting. Maybe it's an individual issue, but I thought the smell was somewhat pleasant. Regardless, I'm sure that it will 'mellow' with use.
One more thing: I love the color of the Black Magic. It is conducive to my practice for some reason! Glad that the PRO is now offered in something other than black....

so this is my first yoga mat.
when i went out looking i realized that i would have to spend at least 30$-40$ to get a decent yogamat i decided i should just buy this and never have to buy one again.
I love it! love the Limited Edition Black Sapphire. looks amazing. the blue is kinda lighter than in the picture. but still good dark enough for a boy.
mat is good and NOT too heavy as other people have said it "was too heavy". thinking about buying a bag for it soon as it would keep it nice and safe on my journeys to the gym.
buy this mat or any manduka product. you really do get what you pay for.
