I purchased this product because my dog is getting very old and I needed an easy surface to clean and an easy surface for him to walk on. It proved to be more work to clean it, because if he peed, the urine would soak through the seems and then spread out along the bottom of the mats. They also tore easily with his nails.
However, I would say that they would be good for kids, provided there aren't any big spills....
