If you're like me you are looking at this balance pad because you used one in physical therapy. Like many PTs, my PT used an Airex balance pad. I chose to take a chance on this brand even though there were no reviews because it was considerably cheaper than the Airex. The EcoWise pad is a little firmer than the Airex pad I used at PT, but the Airex pad I used at PT had obviously been used a lot because its coating was cracked, so perhaps it was not as firm as it was originally. About the coating--this pad doesn't have the outside coating that the Airex pad does; it is a single material so there's no coating to crack. While I know the Airex pads' coatings will crack with use, I don't really know how that coating resists punctures. The EcoWise pad will puncture fairly easily as I discovered when my dog jumped on me and then landed on the pad when I pushed her down. So now there is a small puncture in the pad from my dog's toenail:-( I do find this material to be more grippy than the Airex pad though. All in all, this seems to be a good product. If you need a pad that is as soft or softer than an Airex pad, perhaps look elsewhere. But to do balance work to strengthen the tiny muscles in my feet for my plantar fasciitis, it seems to be fine....
